Why It’s Okay To Be Different

You like superheroes, do you not?

Why wouldn’t you?

They are strong, they can fly, and they can uncover mysteries and bring them to the light. They are someone you aspire to be. But sometimes, when you look at yourself in the mirror, you see someone quite the opposite.

You look at your flaws and feel like you’re just too different to be liked.

Different hair, different skin, a distinct way of talking… But no more! Today, we will be giving you a reality check as to why you are no different than any superhero.

Quirks

We look at the word “different” and associate it with “bad” or “wrong.” But what if we flipped our perspective and thought otherwise? Different means that there is no one like you in a crowd of people walking the same way, talking the same way. If you are visible in a sea of people, if you are noticeable, then it means you have something worth their attention. You aren’t vanilla and boring like the rest.

You have a distinct and unique personality, but most of all, you have potential.

Unlocking Your Potential

You’re, of course, familiar with Superman’s origin story.

Superman was sent to our planet from another. He possessed abilities unlike any other, someone who could blow away mountains with his breath and shoot laser beams through his eyes.

Yet, he was misunderstood – at least in the beginning.

You see, people don’t like what they don’t understand.

This can be strangers or even your own flesh and blood. With that being said, what are flaws for some, can be specialties for others.

Love Yourself

Would you hate your favorite superhero, despite knowing their weaknesses? Would you stick with them even when they get beat up and taken down?

If you choose to stick with them when their flaws become visible, why can’t you do the same for yourself?

The truth is, you have a hero within you. The only difference is that you are doing injustice to that very hero by keeping it hidden and suppressed.

What if, today, you took the leap and embraced all of you – features and flaws alike?

You would come to realize that all the flaws you once thought were flaws weren’t flaws to begin with. They were the superpowers that will remain with you for the rest of your life. You just had to embrace them.

It won’t be the easiest thing to do. But again, superheroes have their challenges. The stronger you are, the bigger the challenge is out to be.

So be different, be a hero.
